I hazard a look through my supervisor’s electron microscope — and the iridescent image swims through a mirror that flows.1

Matter becomes energy, right before my eyes.

Science takes a mystic turn.

  1. A close friend of mine is a surgical pathologist … I’ve looked at those images a few times, your description of what meets the eye while looking through an electron microscope is perfection. A great write. Cheers.

  2. I love it when science meets the mystical. That kind of intersection fills us with a kind of humility and awe that we can so often lose sight of. What a splendid use of Kunitz’s line!
