Fall in spring

Proud of my seedlings
                                               I step back
                                                                       to observe

Back into a log

                which rolls
                                   a touch

Like a skittle    I    wobble

for several

s l o w

seconds

then fall
                  back first
                                      skull second
whomp-smack

                             on hard-baked grass

My feet wangle the air

like a dog playing dead

a lightning-struck sheep

Gaia, why

                     did you smack me

                                                    upside

                                                               the head?

Was that karma

  1. Love the wobble effect! If this happened to you, I hope you’re alright!

Last month, I was pushing my kid on a big wheel swing (with other kids) – it needed all my strength each time. I tripped over his bike nearby, fell over backwards onto the grass but somehow didn’t get hurt.

      1. There’s so many choice words in this short piece…

back first, skull second, Gaia smacking me

The way the text is laid out to express the movement.

The upside-down photo, which must be right-side up to me in the UK(!)

        Was that karma or…!

And this time I know an Australian band by the name of Parkway Drive who have a song, ‘Karma’

  2. I can’t blame anyone but me for certian of my garden misadventures, like taking a rake handle right between the eyes, or reaching to far from and unsteady ladder…

    Heal quickly!
