Silver in a scarf, her head bends low
Shuffling and short, her steps are slow
If withered lips should speak
What history might they say?
Name friends of long ago?
Paint scenes of yesterday?
Some agony or joy undimmed by fading years
Perhaps would make those wrinkles run with tears
It’s true I don’t walk very fast
But I walk today not in the past
I teach a class next week
We discuss my latest play
I have to choose the cast
The audition’s Saturday
There’s passion in my work — read the reviews
But I only cry when I watch the evening news

He’s written all these songs for his a capella choir and plans to share them one by one! I may join the choir one day…many of the songs relate to environmental issues (it’s called ecopella!)

great ending; there’s a reason she walks slow ; she may have a rich inner life, family friends; she may have a talent like writing or weaving that fires her up: I hope she has —
