“Only connect!”
E.M. Forster, Howard’s End
Because there’s joy in the process.
In tippy-tapping,
thinking,
counting,
grappling.
Because time doesn’t pass and
there’s no body;
leaping in the flow
straight from bed.
Because
attention.
Adrenaline.
Play.
Because it’s easier
than a song,
quicker
than a book.

Flow state? Or poesy? I’m being introduced to many list-based exercises recently that are making it easier to chock open the door to inspiration/unleash writing

I’m never short of ideas – perhaps that’s part of the problem. Unable to quite find the focus for one in particular. On the upside, there are times when they won’t stop pouring out too!

E.g. make a list of your favourite words (at least 10). Write each word at the top of a separate page. Over the next 10 days, fill those pages one at a time with your ideas relating to each word. Dig the resulting treasure for poem ideas!
