Flowery Ripples and Jewels

By esteemed guest poet Nolcha Fox1

1.
Meteor showers sing through the sky,
the night ablaze with falling jewels.

2.
Sunrise slips his fingers
through the bottoms of the curtains.

3.
I swallow your death,
spit it out as a ball.

4.
Her dress a ripple, a breezy sail
as she sashays along.

5.
Time will smooth out all our sharp edges,
if only I can wait to be worn.

  1. This was a salvage operation, Shaun. I pulled these decent lines from really awful poems in my Keep or Kill folder, then buried those poems in the backyard. They definitely weren’t up to scratch.

      1. I’m my own worst critic, and if it were only up to me, none of my poems would survive. Luckily, I have a couple of poet friends who are willing to read my poems, and let me know if I sent them a real stinker.

  2. I rarely ever write a first draft. I reread my piece a time or two and correct any big boo boos. The poem then publishes or perishes in my Keep or Kill folder.

You’ll have to let me know how you progress. Lucky you, having a mentor!
