‘Rooms’ by Gertrude Stein [audio]

‘Rooms’ is from the collection Tender Buttons by Gertrude Stein, first published in 1914 in New York by Claire Marie.

Stein’s work was experimental, and influenced many subsequent writers. At first you may find it nonsensical, but as you listen, various themes emerge and, in circling back, deepen. Perhaps, at the time she was writing, certain things could only be said obliquely.

  1. Hey, I was wondering if you would help me with an audio project I have in the works? Basically reading 5 of my poems as audio files. It’s not a paying gig, but what poetry gig is? I will however put it on my website, blog and YouTube channel when it’s finished. Let me know Thanks
