Feed from us, we have extra

An accidental poem by guest poet Jessica Perini

We are plump
Extra fat to give
Ears to hear
Arms to embrace
We are plump

The spectre passes
it
pffs at us
we know its
lure
the charms of old
the lies all told

We walk
when it tells us: fold
We talk
when it tries to cower us
to silence

We are plump
Feed on our fat
Our brains know this beast
Its lies told

We walk
when it says fold
We stand
when it says cower

We are plump
Feed from us

Ignore the petty beast
Its lies old as time

Walk
when it says fold
Stand
don’t cower

Feed from us
We know sunshine
