Sandstone walls embrace
two centuries of planting;
knowledge takes root here.
- Photograph taken by Kari McKern at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney after a ginko (haiku walk) led by Eileen Chong and Red Room Poetry for World Poetry Month on 30 August 2024. Kari composed this haiku on the morning of the ginko, before leaving home. The photo shows a sandstone sculpture of a femme head and hands with the words ‘I WISH’ carved below, and in the background a young wollemi pine tree. The sculpture is holding fresh flowers, perhaps a kind of grevillea (please correct me in the comments if you know this flower!) ↩︎
