I believe in The Youth
their clarity
no-nonsense
plasticity
straight-lacing
poise
greenness
sense of self
questing
The Youth
don’t take drugs,
know vaping’s dumb;
have vocab to call out
racism
ableism
the -phobias,
passive aggression;
calmly heal T/trauma—
including
X-generational
The Youth
go to therapy
twice, thrice a month
keep a journal
do Pilates,
buy chickens;
they study hard
without being asked,
go to bed early,
delegate and
teach their siblings.
The Youth
far from meek
shall inherit;
and they know
survival’s a slim chance;
they’ll take it and run, fast,
far as they can
from today.
