I got some fantastic news recently! I’ve been accepted to take part in my first ever writing retreat, in April, in what has to be one of Sydney’s most beautiful locations for a bird-lover like me.
It will just be me and six other queer writers for four days of intensive writing and community on the Georges River. Swoon.
I plan to do a bit of work promoting the Longette form, write at least one Longette myself — and focus on the plentiful prompts, exercises and readings from the poetry workshop I’m participating in (the 2026 Flying Islands Yearlong Nonstop Poetry Workshop).
So grateful for this (extra!) opportunity.

Great news, while I must admit to be afraid of deep water
and green that may harbor toxic creatures and dreams

It’s near the place of my birth, in the same Shire! Back to Bankstown!
