Episode 22

Even without a functioning brainchip connection, Celeste could see her sister had wandered into a reverie they could ill afford. 

Now was not the time to think of love. And mon dieu, Brandon?! How could Marg even go there? Quelle idée folle.

Celeste now became aware – by smell and sound, rather than sight – that several buildings were on fire.

Looking across to where the models were warehoused, she saw them still moving in slow motion, but differently now. They appeared to be … banging on the tiny window? It was like they were waking from a nightmare. Still half-asleep, but waking.

Brandon de Bras, much more aware of his imminent demise, continued to yell for help. He now knew that he’d been lured here – baited by his beautiful Marguerite.

A crazed-looking Jambeau Renard, propellant and match in hand, obviously planned to take out everyone. Perhaps even himself.

The truth flew bat-like at Brandon. Everyone who knew about this drug operation, which Jam now headed, had to go.

The models. The journalists. The police. And himself – media kingpin that he was.

Everyone had to be expired. And what better place for it, than this dratted arrondissement? The site of Je Suis Charlie, where so many had died before. 

In the scheme of things – in the wreck of this place – what were a few more bodies?
