918 is my favourite number,
should anybody ask;
918
with all its roundness.
A clock reading 9.18 is
a satisfying sight.
*
918 first came to my attention
in 1989 when
I worked as a check-
out chick for Coles.
918,
the code for Dairy.1
*
I gave birth once
at 9.17pm.
I asked my midwife
(time is relative)
to please fudge it but
she wouldn’t.
- Occasionally we needed to enter a price manually rather than scan the barcode, and to do this, we had to enter a department code first. 918 was the code for the dairy department. ↩︎

Now maybe add that 918 means Geography of and travel in South America according to Dewey Decimal classification… maybe there is a purpose in that.

Interesting! One of my closest people is from Brazil…
A friend also noted that it’s divisible by 9.
