Jambeau Renard leads the blindfolded journalist Marguerite through a tiny doorway, guiding her every step most carefully.
“Zere is something I must show you…” he says.
“Well to show me, I must be able to see,” she quips, shakily.
They come to a standstill in a room, and Marguerite hears a curious humming. Like the low song of bees in the distance.
“Prepare yourself…” Jam says as he removes her blindfold, and then carefully ties it bandit-like around her mouth and nose. He wears a similar one on his face, torn from the fabric of the too-long jammie pants, which are now the correct length for his small frame.
Marguerite gasps as her eyes become accustomed to the light. She sees on the walls ancient posters: “Je suis Charlie.” Charlie Hebdo? She barely has time to register the thought…
The room is filled with people, humming, rocking, wandering around like bodies devoid of souls. Not just any people, Gucchi-wearing, beautiful people. Models. Fashion tragics. Barbie-Kens. And those silly bean-bag babies are stacked everywhere: on the floor, spilled onto tables, chairs.
“What…what is this place?” she asks. “What happened to these people?”
“Zese drugs,” he says holding up a bean bag baby spilling its contents. “Ave taken zere minds.”
