Persephone, Dearest [by a guest poet]

Written by Shadman Shafin. 1

In the warmest of the summer,
in the heart of the heat,
something brighter than the sun.

In the restless cold of winter,
the warmth of the coziest campfire
that can pierce through Chione’s heart.

In the ever-decaying fall,
the one who stays evergreen,
remains relentless—
who prevails, perseveres

is none other than you—
it was you, all along.
