I love order

especially New Order
(the status quo is overrated).

I index and it satisfies, once the work is done,
to do what I call alpha checks—
alpha checks 1, 2 & 3.

(Ooo, that makes me think of Alpha Male,
an undie brand here, and how much my son hates it
when I say the word ‘undies’—
but they come in great colours!)

See, my family’s always loved   lining things up,
sorting buttons, classing wool;
sorting by shape, shade, size—
or just by eye: finding a pattern, counting,
seeking the middle.

It’s a thing.
